One Day Cooking Classes and Excursions in Rome's Countryside

“A Day in the Countryside” Culinary Tour includes:

  • A hands-on cooking class with our local experienced chef, covering typical dishes from the local tradition and Mediterranean diet, using farm-to-table organic ingredients
  • A cultural and culinary excursion on board a luxury 9-seats vehicle, including visits to medieval towns and abbeys, a local winery, a traditional olive oil mill or a cheese farm, tasting their award-winning products
  • Fine Italian wines and other beverages included (i.e. espresso coffee, limoncello)
  • Assistance by qualified staff fluent in both English and Italian
  • Apron, Recipe book and Certificate of attendance

After a full interesting day, you are welcome to join us for dinner (or lunch) after the cooking class to taste the fruits of your labor and other delicacies prepared at the moment by our talented chef, all accompanied by our great natural wines.

Important: The scheduled activities are slightly different depending on the day of the week you choose, according to the following program. Every day we’ll make sure you have a great taste of our beautiful part of Italy and its culinary traditions.

Daily Program

Monday

  • At 10 am departure of the excursion to: the Gothic abbey of Casamari; a pre-Roman acropolis with its megalithic walls and Cicero’s hometown
  • Stop at an open-air farmers’ market to buy fresh organic produce as local people do
  • Light lunch at a traditional family-run olive oil mill with explanation of the extra-virgin oil extraction process
  • In the afternoon, cooking class in the Palazzo’s professional kitchen: Home-made Pasta and Primi Piatti (i.e. Lasagna, fettuccine bolognese, bucatini amatriciana, spaghetti carbonara, etc.)
  • Dinner is served at the end of the lesson (around 7.30 pm) with the fruits of your labor and other delicacies prepared by our talented chef, paired with our great biodynamic wines

Tuesday

  • At 10 am departure of the excursion to: the medieval town of Anagni, called the “city of the Popes”, with its 12th-century cathedral, the Papal residence during the Middle Ages and a lot of artisans workshops
  • Light lunch at a selected boutique winery with tasting of “Cesanese del Piglio” red wine (called the Chianti of Ciociaria)
  • Visit to the vineyards and cellars
  • In the afternoon, cooking class in the Palazzo’s kitchen: Main courses and side dishes (i.e. chicken with peperoni, saltimbocca alla romana, etc.)
  • Dinner is served at the end of the lesson (around 7.30 pm) with the fruits of your labor and other delicacies prepared by our talented chef, paired with our great biodynamic wines

Wednesday

  • At 10 am departure of the full-day excursion to the seaside
  • Stop at a cheese farm on the way to taste freshly-made Mozzarella di Bufala
  • Visit of Sperlonga, an ancient fishing village with stunning views over the sea, officially recognized as one of “the 100 most beautiful villages in Italy”
  • Seafood Lunch at an award-winning family-run Osteria with tasting of several dishes, followed by the best Gelato in town at a nearby location
  • Visit of Terracina, a seaside town with the remains of a huge Roman temple overlooking it
  • At 6 pm return to Palazzo

Please note: there is no cooking class on this day.

Thursday

  • At 10 am departure of the excursion to: the Abbey of Montecassino, famous in the world for having been an important battle theater during World War II
  • Light lunch at a historic country house which hosted the English writer D.H. Lawrence in 1919. The owner also makes one of the best Pecorino cheese in Italy and other delicious dairy products and cured meat to taste with a local variety of Cabernet wine
  • In the afternoon, cooking class in Palazzo’s kitchen: Home-made Pizza and Italian Desserts (i.e. Tiramisu, crostata with home-made jam, red-wine ciambelline, etc.)
  • Dinner is served at the end of the lesson (around 7.30 pm) with the fruits of your labor and other delicacies prepared by our talented chef, paired with our great biodynamic wines

Friday

  • At 10 am cooking class in Palazzo’s kitchen: Mixed hot and cold Italian starters (i.e. tomato bruschetta, stuffed zucchini flowers, eggplant Parmigiana, etc.)
  • Light lunch is served at the end of the lesson in Palazzo’s dining room with the fruits of your labor and natural wines from our cellar
  • In the afternoon, excursion to: Arpino (Cicero’s hometown) and its pre-Roman acropolis with megalithic walls surrounded by olive trees
  • Visit to a traditional family-run olive oil mill with explanation of the extra-virgin oil extraction process and tasting of their award-winning products

Notes

Available: Monday to Friday, all year round

Group size: 2 – 12 people

Please arrive at least 15 minutes before the beginning of the activities to allow guests registration and on-time departure.

Free transfer from/to local train station is available at previously agreed time.
Arrival by car is possible, ask us for directions. Free parking is available in front of our location.

Self-produced biodynamic wines will be served during in-house dinners, with a maximum of 1 bottle for every 2 people per day (if there are 10 people dining, up to 5 bottles of different wines can be opened for free!). Extra and special bottles can be opened at a small additional charge.

The previous is a sample program, changes may occur due to weather conditions, seasonality of fresh products and as we are always looking for new interesting culinary activities and special events not to be missed.

You will receive an e-mail from us within 24 hours containing instructions about how to secure your booking.
If the selected date is not available, we will suggest you the closest available one.

Payment methods: Visa, MasterCard, American Express, PayPal, Bank Transfer

Deposit: A 25% deposit is required at the time of booking, balance is due at least 30 days before your arrival date.

Important: We strongly recommend that you have a travel and medical insurance covering your losses in case of cancellation and any unpleasant circumstances during your Italian vacation.
